Local Attractions

There are many local attractions around Carrick;
                                                  just a few suggestions..........

  • Next Year, we hope to be able to link you to local grazing/livery if you wish to bring your horse and ride this amazing countryside and beaches......

  • Cream O' Galloway is very close by.  Their ice cream is made on the farm from milk from their own cows - delicious, get a takeout, there is room in the cottage freezer.  As well as being able to make ice cream, there are indoor and outdoor play facilities and other activities available. Great fun for for adults as well as children.

  • The Chocolate Bean Factory is also close by at Twynholm.  You can make your own personalised chocolates, and they also have play areas for the little ones.

  • Laggan Outdoor Activity Centre is not far away on A75 heading towards Stranraer.  Enjoy mountain balling, archery, grass sledging, & if you are brave zoom down the  zip wire from the top of the hill!

  • Galloway Activity Centre (Loch Ken Sailing Centre) involves a short scenic journey, as the centre is situated between Parton and St Johns Town of Dalry.  
        If you enjoy messing about in water this is the place for you!!  
        The wobbly water park is a real challenge!!  Outdoor laser quest and archery 
        as well as other activites are available.

  • If you are want to see some of the spectacular scenery from horseback, there are a few riding centres not far away.
  • Newton Stewart is approximately 30 minutes drive.  The Cinema there has all the latest in big screen entertainment if you fancy taking in a movie.  http://www.nscinema.co.uk/
  • The artists town of Kircudbright is a drive of around 15 minutes and offers many quaint shops and places to eat and browse.

  • Gatehouse of Fleet is the closest town to Carrick Shore. Quaint traditional pubs with log fires, tea rooms, gift shops & the nearest  local supermarket. 

  • They all offer gorgeous locally prepared leisurely meals out, or just really good coffee. And the cakes.........!

  • And of course, lets not forget the famous Galloway Forest Dark Skies National Park that is never far away from you, even when you are at the beach.
